Low Perceived Control Manipulation
Three people have shared situations in their lives where they felt they did not have
enough control. Please read these three situations carefully and then answer the question that
follows.
Situation #1: Shared by Person #1
I have been applying for jobs in data analytics for the last two years. I get rejected every time. I have learned the subject well enough and all I need is an opportunity. But every company rejects me on the ground that I don't have data analytics experience. If you don't give me an opportunity, how will I prove myself?

Situation #2: Shared by Person #2
Every time I made travel plans last year, they got canceled. Travel restrictions just don't seem to go away and there is no guarantee when I can travel next to visit my family!

Situation #3: Shared by Person #3
Automated Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems are so inefficient. Be it a bank or a sales department of a company or a government agency, every time I call an IVR phone number, it turns into a long wait. I end up following automated instructions for hours only to finally get disconnected.

If you had to choose one of the above three situations that you can relate to the most, which
scenario would it be? In the space below, state your choice and explain in a couple of sentences
why you can relate to it the most.
High Perceived Control Manipulation
Three people have shared their preferences for travel destinations. Please read these three
travel destinations carefully and then answer the question that follows.

Destination #1: Shared by Person #1
Having traveled in the mountains all my life, I feel that mountains are the most beautiful. The variety that a mountain trail offers beats any other place on earth.

Destination #2: Shared by Person #2
There is nothing more serene than a beach. The colors, the calm, the sound of the waves make it the best place to relax and be myself!

Destination #3: Shared by Person #3
A forest trail is synonymous with adventure. The possibility of wild animals lurking behind trees and the hush of a forest create a magical atmosphere. If you had to choose one of the above three destinations that you can relate to the most, which destination would it be? In the space below, state your choice and explain in a couple of
sentences why you can relate to it the most.
